Distribution range of ergothionein

Leave a message

Ergothionein is distributed in certain tissues and organs of mammals, mainly present in red blood cells (about 1-2 mmol/L) and semen of certain animals. Although there is no experimental research indicating that animals can synthesize this substance, there are certainly pathways for absorption and retention of ergothionein in animal cells. For carnivores, ergotamine in animal tissues can supply their dietary needs. Melville. D.B and Eich Research has found that cereal plants also contain ergothionein. Melville. D.B and Genghof D. Subsequent studies by S et al. have shown that ergothionein is a common component in many microbial cells and can be synthesized in several fungi, but not in bacteria. Hercynine, a precursor for the synthesis of ergothionein, can be produced in edible mushrooms such as delicious boletus, mushrooms, and hairy headed devil umbrellas; Moreover, Mao Tou Gui Umbrella can also produce rare amino acids such as ergothionein.
