Basic Introduction to Resveratrol

Resveratrol, a non flavonoid polyphenolic organic compound, is an antitoxin produced by many plants when stimulated. Its chemical formula is C14H12O3. It can be synthesized in grape leaves and skins and is a bioactive ingredient in wine and grape juice. Oral administration is easy to absorb, and after metabolism, it is excreted through urine and feces. In vitro and animal experiments have shown that resveratrol has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and cardiovascular protective effects.
